Persistence Pays Off
Back in 1985, Gurpreet Singh was a frustrated computer programmer living in New York, earning $30,000 annually and yet she had $46,000 in debt. Her father encouraged her to attend a Primerica business overview, but Gurpreet resisted. “He knew my potential was high,” Gurpreet remembers. “I was very negative. He practically had to force me to go!” What she learned opened her eyes and changed her life forever. “I learned about financial concepts that I had never heard before,” she remembers. “I went home and did some research and discovered everything they were saying about finances was true.”
“The Information Was Selling Itself”
A naturally shy person, Gurpreet attended training classes for a while before she felt ready to tell other people about Primerica. “I was really unsure of myself,” she remembers. “But then, I changed. I started getting smarter with my money. I became much better off. I focused on telling people what I learned and asking them if they knew anyone who would really need this information. People started to respond. They were shocked at how these simple financial concepts could make such a powerful difference in their lives – and that they had never learned them in school. ‘Really?’ they’d ask. The information was selling itself! Then I started making money and paying off debt. Five years later, I was debt-free,” Gurpreet recalls with pride.
Overcoming Her Fears to Win
Today, Gurpreet earns nearly $450,000* a year and her husband, Harjinder, has left his job in information technology and joined her in her Primerica business. Her son, Deepjot, has also benefited from Gurpreet’s decision to give Primerica a try. “Our income allows him to go to the private school of his choice,” says Gurpreet. “He knows the business and understands that dreams can come true. With Primerica, we are able to help our extended family when they need us, whether it’s financially or simply being there during other emergencies.”
When asked how she would guide other women who aspire to earn six figures,* Gurpreet reverts to simple logic: “This is a proven system. Do what these people have done and some day you’ll be successful too!” Gurpreet is living proof that you don’t have to be a natural extrovert to succeed with Primerica. Her journey to overcoming her own fears has given her wisdom. “It doesn’t matter how you feel now. Don’t focus on how you’re feeling. Focus on the future. Focus on winning. If you continue to grow, your income will grow and your business will grow. It’s inevitable.”
*Primerica income figures are based upon rolling 12-month gross cash flow (including advances) as of December 2011. The cash flows stated are not intended to demonstrate the earnings of typical RVPs/representatives. Rather, the cash flows that have been cited reflect the potential that comes with building your business, and there is no guarantee that you will achieve any specific cash flow level. Most RVPs/representatives do not achieve the levels illustrated. In the 12-month period ending in December 2011, Primerica paid a total of $504,514,966 in compensation to the sales force at an average of $5,544 per licensed representative. Average RVP earnings are typically higher. Actual gross cash flow is, among other factors, dependent upon the size and scale of a representative’s organization, the number of sales and the override spread on each sale, and the ability and efforts of you and your downlines. Having said this, Primerica provides a tremendous opportunity for individuals who work hard and who desire to develop a business with strong income potential.
